Irish Refugee Council: Barriers

In the summer of 2024, Dublin city council decided to surround Dublin’s Grand Canal with metal barriers in an awful effort to prevent refugees from camping alongside the canal.

Together with the Irish Refugee Council, we have launched a powerful banner-led campaign advocating for refugees on World Refugee Day.

The message was crafted out of the same tent materials that refugees are being forced to house themselves with, transforming the metal hoardings into a canvas, using just tents and tarps.

The banners were designed by me and placed on the barriers along the canal on Mespil Road. Via a QR-code on the banners, people are able to source unbiased facts and better understand the many dangerous barriers refugees overcome getting here in the first place.

At World Refugee Day we ran a series of PR and online activations to spread the message to fight and tackle disinformation.
